Smart Film

Smart Film
for Every Space

Vantis Smart Film uses PDLC technology to turn standard glazing into instant-switching privacy glass. Press a button — or automate it entirely. For commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and architectural projects.

Technology

PDLC Smart Film
Explained

Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) film is built from liquid crystal droplets suspended in a polymer layer and sealed between transparent conductive electrodes. In the unpowered state, the crystals are randomly oriented and scatter light, which creates the frosted appearance.

Apply AC voltage and the electric field aligns the crystals.
Remove power and the film returns to its privacy state.

Because the film is applied to existing glass or integrated into insulated glass units, it gives specifiers a controllable privacy layer without changing the architectural glass itself.

Film Stack

Outer Layer

Protective film and clear substrate

Active Layer

PDLC matrix with liquid crystal droplets in polymer

Electrical Layer

Transparent conductive electrodes apply AC voltage

Power Off

Crystals remain scattered and the film reads frosted for privacy.

Power On

Crystals align with the field and the glass returns to a clear state.

Operating Voltage AC 48V - 65V

Privacy on Demand

Instant transition from fully transparent to completely opaque at the touch of a button — or on a schedule. Privacy when you need it, openness when you don't.

Modern Aesthetic

Clean, frameless glass that preserves the visual openness of your space. No blinds, no curtains, no track hardware — just glass that responds to your needs.

Energy Efficiency

Smart film reduces solar heat gain when opaque, contributing to better thermal performance and reduced HVAC load in glass-heavy commercial spaces.

Space Optimization

Eliminate permanent partition walls. Create flexible, multi-use environments that shift from open-plan collaboration to fully private in an instant.

Easy Integration

Standard AC connection works with any wall switch, timer, or building automation system — KNX, Crestron, Lutron, or simple 0–10V dimming.
